Time for a Renovation

...not a home renovation but a Stampin' Up! Color Renovation!!! I want to share with you this exciting news that Stampin' Up! has announced to all demonstrators..... a refreshing, updated color palette. The new color collections will include 25 of your Current Favorites, Welcome Back to 10 of the past In Colors, (Baja Breeze, Melon Mambo, Pink Pirouette, Rich Razzleberry, Riding Hood Red, River Rock, Soft Suede, Tangerine Tango and Wild Wasabi), and Hello to 5 new colors, (Marina Mist, Daffodil Delight, Cherry Cobbler, Cajun Craze and Early Espresso), and our current Kraft cardstock will be renamed Crumb Cake and will have ink, markers and accessories to match...yummy!!

Tote Bags in All Sizes......

I am so Addicted to Sewing these tote bags that once I got started making them using the Big Shot, and the Square Scallop Die, I can't stop. I have sold almost 30 to date and still have several more cut out and ready to sew. I thought I would share with you the ones I have available right now. For those of you who have told me you are sewing challenged here is the perfect opportunity for you to get one of these without having to sew!! they make great gifts too!!
I make my totes with the lining squares all the same, unless noted, and use a coordinating fabric for the handles. Each has a center magnetic closure.
I make 3 different sizes to choose from:
Small (approx. 11"W x 7" tall x 4"D)
Medium (approx. 10"W x 11"H x 4" D)
Large (approx. 15"W x 11"H x 4" D)
I will also take special orders and have many fabrics on hand to choose from.

The seams are clipped and then washed to give it the ragged look.
The handles are made from the black w/white dots and the lining is black w/ small pink flowers.

VSN Winter Olympics - Final Part 4

"Bundled Up" Callenge
Whether bundling up to get to the venue or bundling up because we’ll be outside watching an event ~keeping warm is a must. So lets bundle up our cards and keep 'em warm and toasty!! The challenge is to "bundle" the card, ends must fold over each other-like a tri-fold card- and has to be wrapped at least twice by something…ribbon, twine,etc.

How to make my tri-fold card: I used a piece of 12 x 12 Cardstock; cut to 5-1/2" x 12"; scored at 4-1/4" and 8-5/8", then used the Eyelet border punch on the outside edge.


"Tickets Please" Challenge
To go to the Olympic Games, one of the most important things to take with you and have on you at all times is your tickets to the event!!! The challenge is to make something to hold your tickets so you won’t lose them – by making a pocket card.

After waiting for 4 years between Olympic games, sometimes, you need an explanation of just what the event is, what are the rules, how do countries and athletes prepare? This challenge was a chance to scratch your head a little, to use an old technique that will seem very new to many, Tea Bag folding. It's one of the 'original' paper arts.

"Going for the Gold, Silver, Bronze" Challenge
With all the talk about winning gold, silver and bronze, sometimes the Olympics just sounds like a metals commodity exchange. The challenge was to create something using a faux metal technique and incorporate it into a card. Because Olympic winners are presented their medals hanging on a ribbon, must use ribbon on your card.

How to make my Faux Metal: Most faux metal techniques requires embossing powder, I do not have any of the metallic powders, so I used aluminum foil and my Big Shot with the Embosslits Flower Burst die.

Olympic athletes come to the games to compete for the top honor of winning the Gold Medal. This challenge was to GO FOR THE GOLD by using GOLD on your card!

Many events in the Winter Olympics require you to "sharpen your blades"...figure skating, speed skating, short track, luge, bobsled...for stamper's we have "scoring blades". The challenge was to use your scoring blade to make a decorative pattern using scored lines.

VSN Winter Olympics Part 2

In my previous post, I shared 5 of the 16 challenges. Today I am sharing a few more of the challenge cards from the VSN weekend over at SCS.

The winning Olympic athletes stand on a podium to accept their medal and be honored for their achievements. The challenge was to make a Free Standing Pop-Up Card to represent the winner standing tall and proud on the winner's podium.

"On The Waterfront" Challenge
Vancouver, the host city of the 2010 Olympics Winter games, is not only a busy seaport but recreational activities involving water abound. The challenge was to make a card that incorporates water as a theme.
My card for the "On The Waterfront" Challenge....



















To create my "water" feature: I took three strips of Ballet Blue cardstock, punched each with the Scallop Edge Punch, then rubbed the White Craft Ink pad over the edges, then rubbed each with my finger to blend. I crumpled each strip to give it a worn look, then mounted it with Dimensionals for a shadow effect.

A big part of the Olympics are the personal interviews and the participants in their brightly colored costumes. The challenge was to glitter up your image, glitter the entire image in loose glitter! No Stickles or Glitter Pens allowed.

To Create the Glitter Panel: Stamp a bold image onto pre-cut Whisper White panel, ink the entire panel with Versamark Ink, cover the entire panel with Heat-n-Stick powder, tap off excess powder and heat with Embossing Heat Tool until shiny, immediately add Dazzling Diamonds Glitter over the entire surface, tap off excess and set aside to dry.


"I Believe" Sketch Challenge
The theme song of the 2010 Winter Games is "I Believe", so this challenge will honor the thousands of musicians who take part in the games, playing a pivotal role in entertaining the fans and athletes. Include these three elements as part of the challenge:
1. Include a musical element on your creation
2. Follow the sketch provided
3. Give a little love to the INSIDE of the card!

VSN Winter Olympics Weekend - Part 1

Hello everyone, guess what? I have been stamping all weekend!!! It was Virtual Stamp Night weekend over at SCS, and thanks to Jimmi Mayo for an invitation to participate, I couldn't resist.

The theme was Winter Olympics, therefore all 16 challenges were around the Winter Olympic games. I completed all 5 challenges on Friday night and all 11 challenges on Saturday. The challenges are posted every hour and you have 45 minutes to complete the challenge and clean up to get ready for the next one. You then upload your cards to your SCS Gallery for everyone to see and leave comments.

"What is an Inushuk?" Sketch Challenge
The symbol you have seen everywhere for these Olympics is called an INUKSHUK, which is a stone landmark or cairn built by humans. Use this for inspiration to create a card.

"Hudson's Bay Sweater" Inspiration Challenge
Each Winter Olympics has its own official sweater. This year, the Hudson's Bay Company has produced a contemporary twist on a traditional Cowichan sweater. Use the colors from the sweater in your creation. For a bigger challenge, use maple leaves, elk, or other patterning.

"Olympic Curling Team" Challenge
Curling is a team game played on a rectangular sheet of carefully prepared ice. Teams take turns sliding heavy, polished granite stones down the ice towards to target (called the house). In honor of this Olympic event, the challenge was to create a card using the rolling marble technique.

Ink: Melon Mambo, Crushed Curry; Re-inkers: Melon Mambo, Crushed Curry, Pretty in Pink Access: Marbles, Plastic Clamshell Box, Fancy Flower Punch, 1" & 1-1/4" Circle Punches, Scallop Trim Border Punch, Dimensionals, Chocolate Chip Eopxy Brads, 1/16" Hole Punch
Rolling Marble Technique: How to create a marbled background with reinkers and marbles. Place several drops of classic re-inkers in a plastic clamshell box. Add several marbles to the box and close lid. Shake box sideways until marbles are well inked and ink drops are replaced by ink tracks in the box. Place cardstock inside box and close lid. Let marbles roll over the cardstock to create a pattern. Continue to roll the marbles over the cardstock until desired background is achieved.

"Snow Blind" Challenge
Create a card that mimics the outdoor feel of Vancouver, and the rest of the Olympic sites, using ALL WHITE!!! That's right, we're going snow blind! The majority of your cardstock and/or DSP must be white, ALL embellishments must be white or a neutral color, you can color your image, or use colored inks as needed.

weSTAMP February Meetup

weSTAMP Group

This month at weSTAMP we changed things up a little.....and it was a wonderful evening. First we did 4 shoebox swaps instead of one make & take....great idea and the projects were awesome. Next, we moved on to the Ice Cream Social......Lorri made homemade Ice Cream and several of the gals brought toppings, the only word for this is YUMMO! After filling up on Ice Cream Sundaes we had the door prize drawing, since I won last month, I brought the door prize for this month....Congrats to Melissa for winning! Then the finale of our evening...SWAPPING! The theme for this month was Anything Goes for Spring/Easter. I left with 12 awesome swaps that I can now showcase to my customers! Needless to say, I came home after this wonderful evening and couldn't sleep......

weSTAMP Door Prize - February

Here is the Door Prize I made for the weSTAMP meeting. I won the Door Prize last month so it was my duty to bring the gift for this month. I decided to go with a Spring Theme and used the colors from the Shades of Spring DSP as my inspiration.

I created a Spring Banner and Mini Milk Cartons (filled with Easter Candies) with Holder.

Stamps: Eggcoutrements, Whimsical Words, Warm Words
Paper: Shades of Spring DSP, Orchid Opulence, Certainly Celery, Pretty in Pink, So Saffron, Very Vanilla, Chocolate Chip
I used the Big Shot and Serif Essentials Alphabet to create the letters and then used the Perfect Polka Dot Impressions Folder to create the texture on each letter.

Mini Milk Cartons with Holder

















I ordered the tutorial to create the holder from Becky Roberts at Inking Idaho. She has amazing instructions for this. The Mini Milk Cartons are cut from the Stampin' Up! Big Shot Die. I used the Shades of Sping DSP and the Eyelet Border Punch to decorate each milk carton. Eggcoutrements stamp set, from the Occasions Mini Catalog, was used to embellish the milk cartons and holder.
